JFK "Ask not what your country do for you, but ask what you can do for your country". This word is very inspiring people to do the best for their country.
Civil education is important to educate from the beginning of every level of formal education. Developing sense of belongin to their country will grow their spirit to respect and contribute their own to their country and make the founding father and heroes of their country proud.
Give and serve the best for their country with something useful and good is one of the best they can contribute to their nation.
PRAMUKA as well as one of the media for building spirit for the nation. From 'siaga' in elementary school, 'penggalang' in junior high school, 'penegak' in senior high school and 'pandega' in university are one of the best approach to coach and building the spirit of the nation. PRAMUKA is an extraculicular education and in a formal education, Indonesia has setted a curriculum called 'pendidikan kewarganegaraan' and 'Pancasila'.
In Jordan, Minstry of Education started educated "Civil Education"as part of the curriculum for basic grades (1st to 10th grade". Trying building the values and civic concepts among students related to the country "commitment, loyalty, human rights,..."
Even at University level there is a course "National -Civic- Education", it is a compulsary course for all students.
I think it is still a baby step toward building the commitment and loyaltyg toward their home country.
In Indonesia, there is also a course on National Civic Education. The curriculum itself is designed combining two approaches, i.e. the national spirit (commitment, loyalty sense of the nation, etc) as soft-skilled education and basic military-combating skilled as basic hard-skilled.
Most of participant will be a regiment student and a national reverse of national defense. The duration course itself was already reduced from 6 weeks to be only 3 weeks. All participant will continue studying at university to finish their bachelor, then they have priority to become military officers or choosing other occupation as well as other graduated student.
