Suppose you have a bar magnet floating in outer space and spinning.  If you were to measure the magnetic field nearby, it would be alternating.  Since there's an alternating magnetic field, there should be an accompanying changing electric field.  This sounds like something which should launch radio waves, which are energy.  So this spinning magnet is radiating energy, which it can't do forever.  So it would eventually wind down and stop.  Does all this sound reasonable?
