Two centuries ago when a person speaks of reaching the moon, it is considered a bit of intellectual madness. But the human arrived at the moon. I think everything starts with the idea. Do you think a day can get to a robot with feelings that may resemble human feelings?

Yousif Yakoub Hilal Of course reaching a sophisticated goal requires a demanding idea, the will to achieve the goal, maybe also some new technology, some trial and error. In this sense you are right.

But to mimic feelings and emotions in order to develop empathy for other beings belongs into a different class of problems, than building rockets to reach the moon, which touches the question of duality of mind and body. A question of long philosophical dispute.

Of course, mankind can build devices which mimic the body of living beings. E.g mankind was inspired by birds, dreamed of flying and constructed airplanes in order to fly. Mankind was inspired by themself and developed robots.

Of course we can say that airplanes mimic flying birds on the leval of movement through the air by the same physical principles. But both fly with different techniques.

I am sure birds will feel the wind, gravity and the magnetosphere. But airplanes just can measure it. Would you say the measurements mimic the perception of the birds? Of course, one can still say that measuring mimics perception. But can such a machine understand (or develop the emphathy) how it feels to perceive the wind, gravity and the magnetosphere? I think not, since this requires that one has made a similar experience.

I am sure birds will feel the wind, gravity and the magnetosphere. But why can I be sure? Because I know atleast that birds can feel something like pain like humans.

I am sure, since the avoidance of pain is a driving force for the survial of living beings. Hence, I can be emphatic with birds, although I will never perceive how it is to feel wind, gravity or the magnetosphere.

But how can technical devices constructed by mankind (or maybe grown in some distant future) originating from a completely different substrate be sure about the feelings of humans. They may experiance something similar like pain (pain is here just a placeholder for any other feeling), but they can never be sure that their pain is in anyway comparable to the pain humans feel. The same holds for us, too.

The question "do you think that emotional intelligence in artificial intelligence will mimic human feeling," is an interesting question . It can happen however to get there one must have a physiologically and neuro-scientifically sound theory of consciousness . Any artificial intelligence based on brain alone would fail to mimic emotion feelings. The feelings are a joint coherence of electrical and neurotransmitter activity of brain and viscera . The feelings in the heart are real and the activity is felt in the brain and entire body. Our group has launched a default space theory of consciousness that carries the scope to mimic emotions in artificial intelligence .

I think that emotional intelligence itself consists of two parts: feeling of emotions and understanding the those emotions. If we take out the second part (understanding), I suppose it can mimic human's. Like a person who doesn't feel but can read emotions of other people just knowing that if one is smiling he/she is happy.

It is closely related to the difference between intellect and intelligence. AI can have super intellect (i.e. reasoning or understanding), but is limited in reaching to human-beings' intelligence (i.e. insight).

The key words in your posts, it would seem, are "mimic" and "resemble." This may have already been accomplished, depending on how you define these linguistic signs. Artificial intelligence functions in a very different way from the cognition of living organisms interacting with their physical and sociocultural environments, which are far too complex to model, considering our limited understanding of ourselves and the cosmos.
