So far i hadn't heard any free option, but it seems that LIMS provided by Agilent, Perkin Elmer, Thomer Fisher are kind of popular today. But i think the price may not be low.
I also am searching for one LIMS for my lab. But it looks like you need different LIMS for different purpouses. In this compilation you can find softwares intended for management of stocks, samples, projects, ...
I would like to have only one LIMS for ALL since I already have several excell and access documents to manage all this information (reactives stocks inventory, providers list, mouse colony inventory, cells vials in liquid nitrogen, paraffine blocks, mounted slides, ....) The hardest thing is to have every thing in different places.... I guess the only way to have all-in-one is to pay for it.
I am looking for something to start from zero (zero-knowledge about this kind of software, zero-experience with LIMS, and zero-confidence in succesfully implementing this into my lab and having all the people working with it... which means absolute zero) so the paying option is not affordable.
Anyway, as I see this threat is death and I would like to put it back to live so anyone can give me advice.
Although it's not chemistry-specific, labfolder is a fantastic web-based lab management software. It's ideal for R&D labs and documents and shares data simply and securely, free trial available and flexible pricing options for larger enterprises.
Suggestion (to María Mercedes Pérez Fernández too)
- Lab collector: http://www.labcollector.com/
- they have free demo for 30 days. So you can try is fit to You needs. Besides this soft has a lot Bio and Organic chem modules such as DNA sequences, molecule structures e.t.c. Much more than for inorganic chem :(
