I have revised a legume genus of just 18 spp. in India for my Ph D. I depended on my seniors who already did Ph D. I can tell you that I learned almost nothing in my M Sc classess. On the contrary I learned many a things particularly on plant nomenclature from my day to day experience.

I suggest you of allotting revisionary work on small groups coupled with molecular studies.

First you have learnt about morphology, description you have the chance learnt about many gaps are there in taxonomy
