The most fashionable research subjects nowadays are related to the 6DOF self-propulsion of a ship either during maneuvers or to the motions in waves, whatever their type they are. Obviously, although not very popular, the most comprehensive studies combine the two. If you need more information and suitable references, please let me know.
Generally speaking, the current trend is on renewable energies, especially FOWT and WEC. But, further, it depends on your personal focus: evaluation of loads, fully coupled dynamic response, risk assessment, structural design, etc.

Another very good recent publication is the one by Moan et al. In addition, you can take a look at the Lifes50plus - Innovative floating offshore wind energy project (https://lifes50plus.eu/) and the OC projects. The OC6 project is currently ongoing, but you should find with ease the outcomes of OC4 and OC5 projects.
