I am working on a project on ethical perspective in qualitative interview. Any reference or group to follow? Specially interested in sense of exclusion and data confidentiality in employee or colleague, working with students and physically challenged patients? Any help?

Thanks Stephanie. I have got these details from Physiotherapy literature:
- Number of qualitative studies in physiotherapy research significantly increased since late 90s. (Coronado 2011)
- In a study (Henley 2006) of 806 included studies from leading physiotherapy journals published between 1996 and 2001, especially for qualitative studies no ethical approval was not even reported in 22% (total 9 of 40). And only 30% (12 out of 40) reported both informed consent and research ethics committee approval.
- Physiotherapy researchers utilize qualitative interviews not only to understand disease process (Robinson 2013), but also to understand complex practice problems, such as, education and clinical decision making. For example, a recent qualitative semi-structured interview of 13 physiotherapists concluded that they use root cause analysis and research evidences for clinical decision making. (Davies 2012) Interestingly, the first author declared non-supervisory working relations for three participants.
- Presence of power relation or undesirable disclosure of confidential information for vulnerable subjects (employee) was not addressed in ethics.
- In future, physiotherapists should pay more careful attention to provide autonomy, confidentiality and beneficence to interviewees through rigorous ethical approval, to respond distressful situations with humanistic compassion, especially for vulnerable groups children, employees, colleagues and students. (Townsend 2010)
