1. Take a very simple example: Suppose that my LOD = 0.5. And my data are: 1, 3, 5, 107. So I use an extreme example where we do not have censored values, meaning that all observed values are above the LOD, but then the lower limit could fall below the LOD.
I obtained the mean of 29 and standard deviation (sd) = 52.02563.
Suppose that the data follow normal distribution (just a very rough example, so it is possible that this assumption is not true for the data at hand), you have 95% confidence interval of: (29-1.96*52.02583 ; 29_ 1.96*52.02583) = (-72.97024 ; 130.9702).
So the lower limit is -72.97 which is far less than the LOD which is 0.5 according my assumption.
