The surprising answer is yes and no!

Yes, in some ways it will mimic human behavior but in many ways it will not.

For example, in Biology animal behavior is often times driven by a very few simple and basic rules of life: SURVIVAL and REPRODUCTION both of which the machines don't need. First of all, AIs are immortal, its just a software, no hardware is needed. Second, it can make as many copies as it wants.

A second fundamental difference between machines and animal brain is WATER. Yes, as simple as it sounds, this is the fundamental difference. Machines use and always will use only electrical communication, but Human brain and all other biological brains use electrical AND chemical communication. I mean the neurotransmitters which are absent in case of the machines. Ultimately this hardware difference will be the most important difference one day. Presently, there are no computers available which uses chemicals such as neurotransmitters as communication systems.

So, what I am trying to say is that WATER, CHEMICALS, SURVIVAL and REPRODUCTION will always separate us from machines. Without water and neurotransmitters it will never be possible to have LIFE or CONSCIOUSNESS.

Actually ANN can be used to model different aspects of behavior in mammal models.

For instance, there was a study in 2004 on ANN analysis of gustatory response in thalamic taste relay in rats:

So, we can see that the use of ANN is not limited to vision science.

In short NO. The natural Neural Network is far more complex than ANN. So, my suggestion better avoid the comparison. Its my view, others may differ.
