For any numerical simulation there are two option implicit solver and explicit solver. I am working on the forming problem. So i want to know which solver is good for incremental sheet forming process.
Actually my problem is very much nonlinear and time dependent. While searching on google i found the for high deformation time dependent (dynamic) problem such as crash, impact , penetration etc. explicit solver are very useful. i am sending the link where i found it and the link of video which explain what i want to do.
One more thing if possible please explain about the convergence issues in implicit solver.
Besides other people's comments, my idea is: considering computation time, it is highly recommended to use explicit to form part. (for example, I did incremental forming, 3 days for explicit but 1 week for implicit). Then once you obtain formed part, please use transfer the file to implicit for springback analysis. Good luck.
The main difference between explicit and implicit solution is the computation technique. The stiffness matrix calculation in the case of Implicit is more rigorous as compared to explicit. So when the problem is highly nonlinear generally explicit analysis is preferred because in the highly nonlinear problem the stiffness matrix is big. And at each node calculation of inverse of that big matrix during IMPLICIT is computationally very expensive. Go for Dynamic Explicit.
And LS-Dyna is the best software to conduct ISF Simulations. ABAQUS and Hyper works can also perform these simulations
