I work on CdTe base solar cell. Need to know the physics and techniques to calculate the open circuit voltage from the photoluminescence spectroscopy. We can also compare the result with Voc calculated from the ERE measurement. A textbook source, journal papers on this will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you have a semicondcutor material and you want to estimate its possible rendition for open circuit voltage Voc given the photoluminescence spectrum,
then one has to find a relationship between this spectrum of the absorber and the Voc.
The open circuit voltage is related to the energy gap of the material Eg where the highest possible open circuit voltage Voc max= Eg.
However there are losses because the contact difference of potential is made normally smaller than Eg which is required to collect more electrons and holes generated by the photons.
The open circuit voltage will be smaller because the internal losses of the photogenerated electron hole by recombination. One of the important piece of information pointing out to the expected open circuit voltage is the minority carrier lifetime which can be determined from the time resolved photoluminescence.
These two important parameters can be used to for cast the open circuit voltage.
There is a rule of thumb that the Voc at the AM1.5 is about 0.5-0.6 Eg
The lower limit for the smaller lifetime.
There are also the ideal solar cell behavior and its relation to Eg. You can use this relation and your Eg to get the highest possible efficiency of the solar cell and its other parameters by following the work of Shockley–Queisser limit.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shockley%E2%80%93Queisser_limit
