My nanoparticle is LaF3:Tb ( Lanthanide based scintillator nanoparticle), and I want to coat it by stober method, and I tried tens of times to adjust the amount of ammonia and teos. Can anyone help me about the effective conc. about ethanol and ammonia and TEOS for efficient coating ?
For silica NPs preparation you should maintain the required ethanol and water ratio (i,e, 4:1 or 5:1 ) according to your sample suitability.
i found stability .. of my nanoparticle , and i made it without water .. total in ethanol ... and it's stable ,,but on TEM there is shadow around nanoparticle .., and i was confused if this is silica layer , but in comparing with my control , i found that this shadow ... but the question is ,, even i didn't find any silica formed , even empty .... i don't know what's wrong .... do you think i've to use another stabilizer like PVP .. or what !
I tried to produce SiNPs by TEOS in a basic(NH4OH 25%) ethanol-water solution. The reagents were added as following: 70mL water, 20mL Ethanol, 0.8mL NH4OH and finally, after 30 min of stirring, 2.5mL TEOS drop by drop. The solution was getting turbid and 30 min later it was totally clear. After 24h of continuous stirring, the solution was still clear. Does anyone have any idea of what happening in there? I want final diameter of particles ~100nm.
