My best friend found this curious plant at a store in Michoacán, México. Honestly, I do not have any idea if it comes from the desert or the forest. The townsfolk could not help him. I believe it comes from the forest, but I am not sure. Does anybody know the name of it?
It is xerophytic plant from Pseudolithos genus, described by PRO Bally (in Candollea 29: 41, 1965) is native to Somalia. The name Pseudolithos comes from the Greek word pseudo (false) and Lithops (looks like stone).
It is quite small genus with five known species:
1. Pseudolithos caput-viperae
2. Pseudolithos cubiformis
3. Pseudolithos dodsonianus = Anomalluma dodsoniana.
3. Pseudolithos gigas = Pseudolithos cubiformis Pseudolithos harardheranus
4. Pseudolithos horwoodii Pseudolithos mccoyi = Anomalluma mccoyii.
5. Pseudolithos migiurtinus

Thank you everybody for your responses. I must admit I was not convinced at the beginning. Pseudolithos growing pattern is quite different from the plant I show. It is my fault I was not more specific telling you measures or uploading a picture from above.
When I saw this plant I thought it could be part of genus Haworthia, considering its similar growing behavior with Haworthia Obtusa (fam. Xanthorrhoeaceae). However, it is not even close. Also, I thought it could be part of genus Conophytum (fam. Aizoaceae). Wrong again.
Finally, I researched again I found out that it is an Adromischus marianae alveolatus, a genus form the Crassulaceae family I did not know.
Nevertheless, it would not be possible for me to find the right name without your help, thank you very much!

Hi Miguel well done. I would have been surprised if that plant was indeed P caput-viperae but anyway A marianae is equally a beautiful plant.
Sagar : Pseudolithos harardheranus is a well distinct species from P cubiformis
P gigas resemble P cubiformism in the flowers but still there are distinct differences and the body of the plant is much different from P gigas. The flower structure was described by Mike Gilbert a well know specialist and he suggested a species status for the taxa.
