Thank you for your interest, what about if we need to improve accuracy, regarding:

especially spread area to capacity transformation. I used trapezoidal formula and don't think it's accurate.

Rao et al. (1985) used a visual interpretation technique on large scale imagery of LandsatMSS to estimate the water-spread area at different

levels to evaluate the capacity of the reservoir and concluded that the

results are comparable with hydrographic survey observations and

similar to the curves obtained from the conventional methods. But remoste-sensing technique requires less time and is cost effective. The remote sensing and GIS application tools are very useful for the extraction of surface water body's information and analysis. It is difficult to obtain accurate ground-truth reference data because the water body changes over time.You have to use the higher resolution image collected simultaneously with multispectral images to minimize anytime-dependent effects.

Remote sensing images can be chosen at closer time intervals so that the revised water-spread area may be obtained at smaller elevation intervals. The capacity of the reservoir can be estimated using the trapezoidal formula. This is the formula everyone uses. It is not very precise but the biggest mistakes do not come from its application.
