I have a different opinion. I try to understand the purpose of the anatomy to study for. It means that you should know the physiology of that anatomical topic first.
Best way is always a combination of various methods such interactive lecture followed by demonstration/ small groups on cadaveric dissection/ models etc. Alternatively, we use team based learning approach for seleccted annd clinical oriented topics

Self learning methods are best to teach anatomy. For Dissection- Prosection and checklist is necessary to help the students in dissection.See all the structures on all the dead bodies alloted to other students so that you can also come across the variations seen oh other dead body.
A challenging question! Ideally the methods or approaches you select should scaffold and support your students to learn the anatomy that is identified in your learning objectives. A typical challenge for anatomy students is that they are not confident on identifying what is essential or core knowledge for their course/application. You are fortunate to have the advantage of being able to utilise both cadaveric and non-cadaveric resources. Different approaches may help different student learners or different student cohorts, for example post-graduate students may benefit from using on line videos, readings and resources before your lectures, so that your class time with them can be used to validate and apply the knowledge. Undergraduate students can utilise the same resources before class, but if they are less academically experienced, your lecture may focus more on how to help them to organise the relevant anatomy content for their course. Your lectures and tutors may guide the students to better structure their learning so that they can link their anatomy to its clinical relevance or pathology or comparative anatomy etc that may be needed in their overall program. I have used different combinations of approaches to meet the needs of different groups of students but as the other answers here indicate, students having the opportunity to have either lectures or laboratory notes or self directed study before their practicals is always a good start.
Dear Maria I love this subject.am a Gyanaec surgeon I know the importance of learning it in a right way.i think one should teach Anatomy making it interesting and simplified way.i feel at the same time using its applied importance of the Anatomical structures and its cinical implications.Anatomy is a subject where so many structures in detail has to learn, the teacher who understand it completely can make it simple to understand the students.the Audiovisual projection methods are good.today I feel virtual classroom is the best thing to make understand the students. 3 Dimentional structure orientation to the students makes the students to understand it in betterway during teaching after the cadaveric dissection or Dead body dissection.you yourself is a wonderful teacher maria,i think who will add more to it.thank you
Challenging nowadays, students have different way of learning, drawing may be useful for some, other will prefer models, and other app with the chance to remove layer by layer, the fact is that it needs to make sense... clinical implications related to specific part of the body helps them to enjoy better the information. Lecture should be the last option.
