I am happy to do research. I like to dive in to the research papers and read them all. However, it is not possible to do so in reasonable time. I use MaxQDA to autocode the papers but most of the time the autocode is out of the context and in the end of the day I prefer to read the full paper, rather then autocode. Then I highlight the main ideas properly, to keep the quality of the project. I would like to ask you (as better professionals) how to process such a quantum of research papers more automatically or more efficiently without quality drop - in reasonable time (1-2 weeks). Best practices are welcome.
I do not think that qualitative data analysis software has reaching the level where you can use it for auto-coding (but if you have access to NVivo, you might look at its "trainable" version of auto-coding).
So, instead, I would suggest that you prioritize your literature searching by beginning with articles that are both relatively recent and high cited. That will lead you to prior publications ("landmark articles) which are central to your field, so that you can do further citation searching from there. Personally, I prefer the Web of Science to Google Scholar for this kind of work because it allows for much more specific options in your searches.
It is not easy to manage 900 articles for literature review. My experience is that you need to consider refining (narrow down) your review objectives. Also, I agree with David L Morgan , you can device inclusion/exclusion criteria, which can help you exclude irrelevant articles, as well as those with low quality.
