To measure academic quality of university academic staff, i asked three questions
1] job title (Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer)
2] Number of publication (Research articels, Books)
3] Citation received (Number of citation)
Please help me to calculate a measurement using above three dimensions.
Salinda - to answer this question to be of any use to you - I would argue that you need to offer more detail. Currently, the detail looks too limited to do much with - particularly to develop a model. For instance - did you adopt a qualitative or quantitative approach to these questions - and what methodology?
I am not at all sure that these measure quality. The first two may measure productivity but even the editors of Nature argue that an h index is not necessarily a measure of quality. Also, what about teaching? There are fairly well developed frameworks available.
My study aimed to explore the contribution of academic staff to promote university industry knowledge exchange, and contribution was confirmed through aforementioned conceptual framework, therefore by nature study was a quantitative explanatory type study. Deductive research method was applied and questionnaire survey method was employed as research strategy. Study developed six hypotheses to address the research questions and two out of which, test moderating impacts that could have on the relationship between independent and dependent variable. Left side of the conceptual framework explains independent variables (Joint research, contract research, staff mobility and training) in contrast, right side explains the dependent variable, and further moderating effect (individual and institutional factors) to the relationship is also explained at top and bottom of the framework. All academic staffs attached to state universities were the population of the study. Random sampling method was applied.
To measure the individual factors that has been incorporated into the model, i should measure the quality of academic works, for that reason i asked three questions: job title, number of publication and citations. So how do i develop one variables using three questions?...
