I can remember very well the discovery of superconduction effect in ceramic materials in the eighties and I am curious where and how this discovery has finished. Run any research projects in the area?
Two one km long cables in Essen and Hannover. I had a loook on cables' section but it was hard to understand under which form is YBCO. Probably as a thin film? Maybe using PLD which was an appropriate method to keep stoichiometry of the compound.
I am very curious when Meissner effect will find industrial application. Maybe physics from "star wars" will be our daily routine in next decades? I hope so :-)
Joachim, let the Force be with You :-) But I was more interested in vehicles employing Meissner effect rather like from the skateboard from "Back to the Future", or car "Fifth Element":-)
