Every thing has its pros and cons. But looking into the present need of the world it is high time to evaluate where are we heading with so many studies, researches and innovations.
Are we not simply intruding too much into everything? Are we not the ones who are contributing maximum to global warming???

Researchers are bringing out the real facts of an ecosystem and nature due to which so many untoward and harmful things have been highlighted or predicted to occur in near future. The most probable objectives are to find out any affordable processes of mitigation.
My humble opinion is that it depends on what you are researching. If it is research about weapons of mass destruction or more efficient methods to gather natural resources (wood, fish, water, etc.) then probably the answer is yes. However, if your research is on how to understand the natural environment and co-exists with it or help to restore it, then I don't think so. There are all kinds of research, and I would say some researchers are the top defenders of our ecosystems and nature.

.....that's exactly my concern. There are only a handful researchers who are presently working in interest of nature and its preservation.
But as a whole if we see the amount of resources used by researchers for years together: the machines, paper, computer, laboratory, air conditioners, and many more are they not affecting the environment?
Yes, we are affecting it, of course. However, the top most offenders of our ecosystems and nature are not researchers. The top most offenders are oil companies, mines, industrial animal agriculture, and others. But, yes, I see your point: as researchers (and as people) we should be more environmentally responsible.
