Are there only ten items in The Zanarini Rating Scale for Borderline Personality Disorder (ZAN-BPD)? If not, can someone tell me where I can find the full version, or send it to me? I would like to use it for my future research projects. Thank you!
Thank you! However, it says there are only nine items, which is even less than the one I found. Maybe I did have the full version?(http://depts.washington.edu/brtc/files/BSL23.pdf)
The Zanarini Rating Scale for Borderline Personality Disorder (ZAN-BPD) consist of 9 item, it is based on the borderline module of the Diagnostic Interview for DSM-IV Personality Disorders (DIPD-IV) and is used to briefly assess the four core domain of PDs (affect, cognition, impulsiveness, and relationships). Psychometric properties of ZAN-BPD are already evaluated (see http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12839102).
The strengths of this assessment tool are the convenient format and the period of assessment (last week) which could be useful to a repeated measures study design.
Apologies for my delayed response. I don't know Zanarini's scale. The choice of instrument could depend on a variety of factors. In Australia, when Chanen et al. (2008) compared 4 instruments to screen for BPD in the younger age range, they found the BPQ (borderline personality questionnaire) (Poreh et al. 2006) fared best. The latter questionnaire was also tested in Spain ( Fonseca-Pedrero et al., 2012). The 80-item BPQ reflects DSM-IV criteria for BPD. Poreh et al, (2006) ~ Journal of Personality Disorders.Adrian Furnham et al. (2014) have published an open-access review of measures for the personality disorders more generally; check the part on BPD for a neat summary of relevant psychometric research.

Also, if you are interested in no-cost scales that track borderline symptomatology (but don't diagnose BPD) and are sensitive to changes in symptoms over time, you may be interested in the Borderline Symptom List (23 item short form or 95 item version) or the BEST (15 items). There are links to both on this website ( https://www.practiceground.org/assessment-measures ), and articles about each on PUBMED.
