CBD is routed to a BD flash tank and the flash steam is sent to the DA and the atmospheric BD is then sent through a heat exchanger to preheat the feedwater prior to entering the DA. This is done in all energy conscious steam plants not just Utilities. DA vent is always sent to atmosphere and it represents 0.1% of the feedwater flow. Capturing the heat leads to non condensable gases building up in the DA resulting in increase partial pressures of the gases, hence reducing the removal rates of said gases and increasing the consumption of chemical additives, not smart for a 0.001 X FWF (pph) loss to atmosphere.
