Dear All i am a very naive in data mining but i would like to apply data mining in analyzing my questionnaire which s likert scale (1,2,3,4,5) and demographic information . i really appreciate and help or guidance
Well, First we need to know what you want to do besides mining your questionnaire. Do you have a research question? Does your research question look like something that could be attacked with a data mining approach? Knowing these things would be a big help. Best, D. Booth
Thanks a lot for your reply , actually i am trying to find out how could human technology interaction, technology, organizational factors may affect patients acceptance of e-health services based an extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) that i have developed.
Be aware that there is a difference between a Likert-scored item and a scale that is composed of several Likest-Scored items. In particular, a "scale" implies that all the underlying items measure the same general concept, so if you have such a set of items, you would be wise to investigate whether they do indeed form a single scale.
Thank you for your reply. I assume you are asking for a statistical method that answers your questions and not necessarily something called "Data Mining". Would you now list your proposed IVs and DVs. At that point I think we may be able to assist you. Thanks, D. Booth
thanks for your reply , yeah i know that most of the researchers they go for statistical methods to analyze such work , but as i am from an IT background i would like to try to apply data mining to analyze my questionnaire !
from my reading that i just started two weeks ago , i found out that possible techniques to apply data mining are : association rules , step-wise regression and decision trees although i still don't know how i could do that !
BTW Professor Morgan is quite correct. Don't forget to do that. I'm sure that he can point you to references on how best to go about it. Best, D. Booth BTW Prof Morgan has collected useful information on developing scales. You can find it at this link:
Thanks a lot for your reply and all the feedback that you are providing , its really helping me and stimulating me to search and read more which i understand more !
well i have read Prof. Morgan comment again and yeah i have a scale that is composed of several Likert-Scored items. a group of several likert-scored items is intended to measure different variables such as privacy , trust , language, perceived usefulness, peeved ease of use (independent variable) and these variables are influencing the dependent variable (acceptance), i know how to use statistical calculations to analyze my questionnaire but i wish i could employ any data mining technique to analyze my survey !
Regards and your time is appreciated David Eugene Booth David L Morgan
How do I interpret hierarchical cluster analysis using dendograms?
After choosing Hierarchical cluster to establish relationships between antibiotics resistance in MRSA and NonMRSA isolates among patients attending particular hospital, I couldn't undetstand the interpretation. Can anyone help with video or books to understand this better?
