thank you for your answer. There is a number of research papers from Anne Mangen:http://stavanger.academia.edu/AnneMangen showing some results regarding modern educational tools and traditional one. Another researcher Jeffrey D. Karpicke shows similar results regarding modern and traditional educational approaches: http://www.purdue.edu/hhs/psy/about/directory/faculty/Karpicke_Jeffrey.php

Sounds interesting though, to examine the combination of two. It seems that we need a transition period/phase were modern and traditional pedagogy will co-exist transforming the future class. With that way we avoid the critisim of traditional pedagogy supporters but also we examine how the new tools will enchance the educational process. I am talking mostly from my perspective which is medical education.

I think a good research proposal would be to look at the effectiveness of technology integration in an actual experimental study for enhancing learning. All too often, studies claim that technology enhanced learning but could not show any control for intervening variables such as prior learning.

Dear Sokratis,

In my opinion, we are sometimes fascinated by the enormous fast development of technologies from the hardware point of view (different calculators tools, computer tools, tablets, smartphones, multi-touch screens and other technical devices). Meanwhile, we have to admit that, research regarding technologies use in education is a bit behind this rapid growth. Further investigations may focus on the preconditions necessary for the effectiveness of ICT usage, as you suggest. For an example in mathematics education, see:
