The aim of the study is to assess the economic feasibility of the cultivation. Primarily the seaweed will be used to extract carrageenan but controlling the phase of the lifecycle so will be 100% pure Kappa II or Lambda carrageenan. The last with a growing use in Pharma applications.
Guess got phat fingers. Thought was posting on the Sargassum thread . . .
You may want to take a walk down memory lane regarding the commercial farming [ponds] of Irish moss.Even though they had clones, the project failed. This was a blessing in disguise. Out of that failure Acadian Seaplants emerged. . . A Seaweed Phoenix?
You may remember my negative relation to that infamous Greek Tragedy [i.e. carrageenan fractions].
Have not closely followed the papers regarding the fine structure of carrageenans but am assuming you have a decent understanding of what type of carrageenan your raw materials synthezise.
Remember that DA2S-G4S-DA / D2,6S-G4S-D6S is just a theoretical representation and the variations are almost limitless.
hahaha I just reply because your question appeared in my inbox so I assume was related to my project... surely the Sargassum community was surprised by my unrelated answer. Sorry for that.
Regarding the Greek Tragedy you're right there is a countless number of variations. Luckily we still sell stuff based on properties more than structures.
