Even though we'll keep getting more and more capable and powerful AI models, teachers can never be, and must never be replaced by AI. It would be like replacing your parents with AI.

As mentioned in the other answers, AI can handle the technical and administrative tasks; grading, invigilation, content generation, assignment preparation, and much more. It should certainly be used as a tool by the teachers. But teaching is much more than that, teaching goes well beyond imparting bookish knowledge, tests, and assignments.

A teacher interacts with the students, imparts wisdom, teaches morals and ethics, presents their unique perspective on things. If an AI model were to teach all students a common perspective about everything, the students themself will become robots. AI can 'teach' the students, but it can never 'guide' the students.

The issue you are asking about is one of the most crucial regarding effective, reliable, ethical, etc. applications of generative artificial intelligence technology. Like basically any technology, tool, etc., it can be applied positively but can also be applied negatively. Analogously with applications equipped with generative artificial intelligence technologies. The applications available on the Internet equipped with generative AI technology are tools that can be helpful in the work of a teacher and also of a student in a school or a student in a university if they are used correctly, i.e. with the simultaneous application of ethical principles, recognition of copyright, showing all publications and source materials for the created works (texts, graphics, photos, animations, videos, etc.) with the help of generative AI technology, giving full information in bibliographic footnotes and providing information indicating that a certain work was created with the application equipped with this technology.
