I just got one of those "jobs you might be interested in" emails from ResearchGate, and it was kind of funny to see how badly some of the jobs missed the mark. I'm not qualified to apply for a job as a biology professor or as a patent processor in Luxembourg (wouldn't they want a Luxembourger for that job anyway?). Then it occurred to me that in this era it might not be that hard to build in some sort of AI that could improve the focus of the jobs being shared. My coding skills are very rusty, but I imagine you could put up a link where people could answer questions like, "Are you interested in job openings outside of academia?" "Do you have tenure?" and if you do, "Would you be interested in hearing about academic jobs that don't have tenure?" "Are you an engineer?" You wouldn't need an AI to use those results to filter the openings, but you could also ask, "What sort of job are you looking for?" or "What sort of job would you consider leaving your current job for?" or even, "What would your perfect job be like?" and using the results for an AI to design more sophisticated filters.
