In as much as greater collaboration amongst academics involved in the governance of educational institutes across the globe is very important, in cases where such collaborations are lacking at the national level, there is the likelihood that little or nothing can be done to enhance collaboration at the global level.

For this very reason, it is important that countries and regions establish strong associations at their respective levels which would in turn serve as an effective springboard for projecting such collaborations on a global scale. Ghana for instance have in place the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) and the Vice Chancellors’ Ghana (VCG) Association and others which coordinates the activities of their respective members for effective collaboration. I must however confess that I do not know how exactly these groups and others have been working to promote international collaborations. But I believe it is an important first step.

Academics are in various transnationl professional associations

And university managers also have their international bodies.

Teaching unions are also linked internationally.

To make clear the idea in my discussion, I'm interested in seeing how and to what extent academics contribute to the governance of their affiliated institutions. Surely, there must be a place to collaborate globally in this area.
